Clutter Behavior Assessment

Find out if your clutter is a reflection of you. Getting organized is not just about your physical space.  It is also about your spiritual state.  In each of the categories below, find the statement that best describes your situation. Send me your response and I'll send your score to you.

General Housekeeping

There is a place for everything, everything is in its place, and everything is dusted.
There is a place for most things, and most things are in their place. Most are dusted.
I’ve run out of places for things and there’s probably a pile of dust and a small dust mite farm developing   somewhere.
There is a place for most things but hardly anything is in its place, and many more  things are some place else, I think.  Things are a bit dusty.

My Work Space

There are papers, books and mail on my desk.  I don’t have time to sort through and organize all of this.
There are no loose papers in my work area.  I have folders, a mail tray, a file system, drawer dividers and hanging files for easy access and no clutter.
There are a few papers scattered on my desk. But most papers are filed away, some mail still needs opening, but unopened mail and papers are in a neat pile on my desk or file cabinet.  And I’ll get to it within the next couple of days.
Desk?  Workspace?  What are those? I think they may be under the piles of papers, magazines, and miscellaneous stuff I think I need to keep . . .  “just in case”.

My Acquiring Habits

I buy things only when necessary, and then only after waiting a day or two to be sure I need them.
I buy things when they're needed but also pick up items when they're on sale or when I have a coupon.
I buy things on impulse and save things because they may be useful someday. If I have a coupon, I buy two.
I see something I want, I buy it even if I don’t need it. I cram it into my home, where I have hundreds of other things I wanted, but didn’t need.  But I just had to have it

My Disposal Habits

I dispose of possessions as soon as I no longer need them.

I dispose of things I don't need regularly, keeping my space tidy.

I dispose of possessions only when they fall from the piles in which I've stacked them.

I will dispose of things when they're pulled from my cold, dead fingers, and not a minute sooner.

My Clutter Style

I’m somewhat organized and declutter routinely.

I get organized when I expect company.

I can’t function in clutter and disorganization.

I keep everything, even if I don't have anywhere to put it.

My clutter makes me feel secure.
